Drury University is a private institution which had been established in 1873. its setting is urban. At the time of instructional classes first began in 1873, they were conducted all in one building on a campus occupying no more than 1 1/2 acres. In the present day, the university covers a 115-acre campus, consisting the first traditional historic buildings.
Rev. Nathan Morrison, Samuel Drury, and James and Charles Harwood made available the school's opening endowment and organization. Samuel Drury's contribution was the biggest of the group so the school was eventually renamed in remembrance of Drury's suddenly departed son.Drury College eventually became Drury University on 1 st January 2000.
Drury University has a total undergraduate enrollment of 1600, with a gender distribution of 47.2 percent male students and 52.8 percent female students. At this school, 52 percent of the students reside in college-owned, -operated, or -affiliated housing and 48 percent of students stay off campus. Drury University is part of the NCAA II athletic conference.
Drury is a mid-size undergraduate and graduate research university, recognized by The Higher Learning Commission. The university provides you with 54 undergraduate majors and various high quality college degrees with the Hammons School of Architecture, Breech School of Business Administration, and School of Education & Child Development.
Drury is often at or just close to the best of the U.S. News and World Report "Great Schools at Great Prices" list for the Midwest since 1999. It had been ranked No. 8 on U.S. News and World Report's Best Regional Universities (Midwest) for 2014. It has been included in Princeton Review's Guide to Green Colleges since 2010. Other eulogizes add Honorable Mention for Best Liberal Arts School in the Nation by Time Magazine, a top producer of Fulbright Scholars in 2011 according to the Institute of International Education, as well as one of 13 Institutions of Top standard by the Policy Center on the First Year of College.
